I have family in Salem who sent me this site and the picture of them in it. I love covered bridges and hope someday I will be able to go back home to Louisville and drive over and visit. Great work!!! Wish there were a lot more of them.

We no longer live in the area but was home to visit family in the fall and so enjoyed seeing the result of all your hard work. From those of us who call Medora and Jackson County home but who no longer live there let me say a very heartfelt thank you for all you have done to save this structure. Hopefully now our youth will take great pride in it and not destroy it. God bless you all.

It is wonderful to see the bridge looking so good. Thanks for preserving this part of the past for future generations. The "Weddleville" school building is really Historic Carr High School in Weddleville. It has been nominated to the National Register of Historic Places!

I was able to see the restoration all completed on the Medora Covered Bridge last Saturday after attending the Valonia Festival. And, I was both amazed and pleased at the result. They have restored it beautifully, all ready for another 100 or so years. I was publisher of The Brownstown Banner newspaper 1965-72. When the state highway people announced the bridge was going to be taken down, to be demolished, I immediately wrote an editorial about the decision and stated the the bridge should be saved for its historical significance. A short time later, it was announced that a new road would be built around the bridge and the old bridge would remain. I moved from that area shortly after that, and was unable to keep abreast of the situation, but do know that it remained in an ever-growing delapidated state for many years. On several occasions I had the opportunity to mention to local people that the bridge should be repaired. Finally, money was found to restore the bridge. I want to commend those who were instrumental in that movement and point out to the public that many more years of "bridge enjoyment" have been provided. I want to also thank Morris Tippin for the interest he has shown and his continued work on the project. I have always felt my editorial about the bridge was instrumental in changing the state highway department's mind about demolishing the landmark bridge.
